Before that, goals inside of the first 10 minutes from Christy Connaghan and Bryan Kelly had put the 2005 team into a 2-0 half-time lead, only for the contemporaries, who were put together from fourth, fifth and sixth year students, to turn things around.
A well-taken goal from Adam Dwyer pulled one back before Finn Nolan made it 2-2 and then, four minutes from time, Luke Patterson struck the lead goal. However, Gareth Harkin managed to level it at 3-3 to force the shootout.

St Eunan's defeated Tallaght Community School 4-1 in the SFAI Senior Schools final at Belfield 21 years ago at Belfield, with Ciaran Greene captaining the team and the goals coming from an own goal by Alan McCormac, Lorcan Keeney, Bryan Kelly and Mark McGowan.
This enabled St Eunan’s to defend the title they had won 12 months in 2004, when they also were 3-0 winners against De La Salle Waterford, through a Kevin Kelly own goal and late goals from Keeney and a Jason Burke penalty.
That year was a remarkable one for the school, when they also won the national U-16 crown, with McGowan scoring the only goal in extra-time of the final at Killygordon in the 1-0 victory over Summerhill College from Sligo, as well as the U-14 title, on top of a clean sweep in Ulster, with the U-13’s also successful.
