St Bridget’s Clonmany boxer Keelan Kearney blasted his way to gold at the Athy Box Cup at the weekend.

Kearney won gold in the ring while his club-mate Patrick McDaid took gold by way of walkover and there were four silvers also coming back to Donegal clubs from the tournament.

Kearney won gold on Sunday when defeating Tiernan Martin from Oughterard BC in Galway. 

Kearney landed the Boy 1 48kgs title when taking his latest win. Kearney had beaten Bernard Doyle from Templemore in his semi-final before getting the better of Martin.

The victory continued a fine 2025 for Kearney after winning gold in the Multi Nations, Halloween Box Cup and Monkstown Box Cup as well as winning Donegal, Ulster and 9 County titles.

McDaid also won gold, taking a walkover win after his opponent withdrew from the final.

St Bridget’s duo Ryan Glackin and Charlie O’Donnell left Athy with silver medals.

Glackin defeated Owen McDonagh from Cavan in his semi-final before losing out to Carrickmore BC’s Thomas McDonagh in the final.

O’Donnell was edged out by English boxer Mylie Cash in his final while Carndonagh BC’s Noah Quinn was on the wrong end of a decision against Cherry Orchard’s Bobby Guy.

Also losing out in a final was Twin Towns BC’s Roisin Hegarty, the European U15 gold medalist. Hegarty lost out to Sinead O’Doherty in the Girl 2 63kgs decider.

Elsewhere, there was a narrow loss for Conor Glackin of St Bridget’s against John Luke Lee from England inn a semi-final. While Michael McGonigle was bettered by John Stokes of Olympic Mullingar in his semi-final with Tyler McGonigle and Darragh McGonigle exiting at the semi-final stage at the hands of Arthur Ward (Olympic Mullingar) and Sebastian Fodor (Dunboyne).
