Jason Quigley looks ahead to Fight Night at the Valley
Jason Quigley says his ambition is to bring professional boxing shows to Donegal on a regular basis.
Excitement continues to build as the former world middleweight challenger, alongside Sheer Sports, gets set to host ‘Fight Night at the Valley’ this evening, Saturday.

The event will be the first professional boxing event ever held in the Twin Towns, taking place in the Finn Valley Centre - a venue Quigley, who began his boxing career there, holds close
“There is a lot of history here and it’s great to have this man alongside me, Patsy McGonagle,” Quigley said this week in the lead-in.
“Patsy gave us our first little break here with the boxing club, god knows how many years ago. We’d a wee back room and it just grew and grew.
“It gave me the opportunity to train in a top facility. I just have so many memories from here. From winning national titles, homecoming and so on; it just has a huge place in my heart.
“So to come back here, and the first time in history that professional boxing has come to the Twin Towns, it’s going to be a brilliant event”.
Saturday’s card follows on from the ‘Rumble In The Hills’ events held in the Aura Leisure Complex in late 2023 and 2025, and Quigley is hoping to make it an even more recurring event with shows being held regularly in the north west from now on.
“For me, it’s about breaking a mould of sorts in Donegal. Professional boxing isn’t something that happens here, or happens here regularly.
“And it’s the production that actually makes the show. The venue we're hosting in, it’s actually better than some of the buildings that Matchroom and Queensbury have been to.
“People just don’t put professional boxing and Donegal together as it rarely happens. So this is something we’re planning on growing in the years to come.
“It’s key now to really make a mark. This isn’t a small show, a small event. It’s a proper professional show.
“The calibre of fighters on the card, I have no doubt they’ll go on and bring titles back home to this county and country. These lads are talented fighters that can go on and do great things”.
Quigley says that events that push homegrown talent have the potential to really catch the imagination.
And a little like those previous events in Lettekernny, he says no one will be going home disappointed at the weekend.
“Ticket sales have been brilliant. They’re all gone. I think Donegal sports fans love the idea of getting behind their own.
“You see it in the GAA, it’s massive and the following is unbelievable. It’s something to be so proud of.
“Again, we all know those lads running out for the county. And for local boxers, I think it’s very easy to get behind your own.
“Ireland has always had a very enriched relationship with boxing throughout the years. I think everyone can relate to boxing.
“We all know what it takes to fight for something, to earn something in life. And I think boxing, because it’s an individual sport, captures the imagination of so many.
“As I said, tickets have sold out. So that shows the interest. And that’s fantastic. It shows the demand is there and that means it has a future here. That it can be continuous”.
