St Bridget's, Clonmany boxers celebrate
Donegal boxers were celebrating Ulster success on Saturday at the Ulster 4-7 Championships.
At the impressive new Oakleaf Boxing Club in Derry, there was plenty for Donegal fight fans to cheer in the ring - including a trio of wins for St Bridget’s, Clonmany.
The victorious boxers will now go to the National Championships, which glove off next weekend.
St Bridget’s lad Patrick McDaid wasted no time in grabbing the Boy 4 75kgs title, stopping Pearse McCann from Gilford in the opening round.
Tyler McGonigle from St Bridget’s defeated Patrick Morrison from Culloville in the Boy 4 63kgs final while Rowan Doherty of St Bridget’s edged out Thomas McDonagh from Carrickmore in the Boy 4 48kgs final.
Their tally rose to four after Conan Kearney’s Boy 7 70kgs win via a walkover.
Odhran McCarry from Dunfanaghy BC overcame Darragh O’Callaghan of Armagh in the Boy 6 52kgs decider.
The Boy 6 final at 63kgs was won by Twin Towns BC’s Brian Anderson, who claimed a unanimous decision to defeat Ederney’s Conal McGrath.
His Twin Towns BC colleague Blake O’Carroll earned the unanimous verdict from those at ringside in the Boy 5 54kgs final, defeating Camlough’s Conor Quinn.

Andrew McLaughlin from Illies Golden Gloves had his hand raised after a UD win over Ben McEreaney from Castleblaney to land the Boy 5 66kgs title and Colum Callaghan from Carndonagh is the Boy 5 60kgs champ after seeing off Omagh’s TJ Marlow.
Letterkenny girl Isla Larkin took victory over Logan McNulty from Two Castles BC in the Girl 5 54kgs final.
Carndonagh’s Kyrin Kelly lost out to Shane Duke (Dukes BC) in the Boy 6 75kgs final while Rocco McDaid, also of Carndonagh BC, was on the wrong end of a unanimous decision against Cayden Cummings from Cookstown.
Cormac Callaghan of Illies lost out to Carrickmore’s Mark Harte in the Boy 5 48kgs final and Cassie Lynch was on the wrong end of a split decision in the Girl 4 51kgs final, the Illies GG boxer losing out to Maisie Flanagan from Muckno.

Dunfanaghy’s Conor McFadden was beaten by John Joe Coyle (Cookstown) in the Boy 4 50kgs final; Michael McGonigle of St Bridget’s lost out to Thomas O’Brien (Camlough) in the Boy 4 46kgs final; while Adam Brown from Twin Towns was stopped by Enler’s Zac Foster in the Boy 4 42kgs final.
