Donegal boxers Alesha Mullis Boyle and Shaun Doohan won Irish Junior 2 titles on Friday night.

Dungloe Boxing Club’s Mullis Boyle and Doohan, representing Dunfanaghy Boxing Clubm had their hands raised at the National Stadium.

Mullis Boyle overcame a standing count to defeat Castlebar’s Grace Baily in the Junior 2 66kgs final, while Doohan landed the 85 kgs crown by overcoming John McDonagh from Galway.

Last year, Mullis-Boyle won Youth 1, Senior Cadet and U17 Irish titles - and she followed up her by picking up where she left off.

Bailey came out strong and forced a standing count for Mullis Boyle, who was in some early trouble.

However, the west Donegal teenager shook her head clear and began to find a flow before the end of the opening stanza.

Mullis Boyle was on top in the second and third rounds to take a memorable win.

In February, Doohan was co-captain of an Irish team that went to an international tournament in Scotland, where he beat Rory Mackenzie.

Doohan missed out on a place at the European U17s last year having beaten Martin Collins of Baldoyle BC to win the Irish U17 80kgs title.

The Dunfanaghy BC ace had too much for McDonagh to take the decision and another title is headed back to Donegal.
