Isla McShane with club coaches and Tegan McCarron, who won a title by way of walkover
St John Bosco Boxing Club’s Isla McShane had to settle for silver in the Girl 3 Championship finals on Friday night.
McShane competed in the Girl 3 47kgs final at the National Stadium.
Up against the testing Amy Joyce of the Olympic BC in Mullingar, the defending champion, McShane was always in for a big battle.
Joyce earned a unanimous decision win with McShane returning a silver to the club.
Carrigart BC’s Tegan McCarron won the Girl 3 128kgs title by walkover. This is McCarron’s third successive Irish title.

The Boy/Girl 1, 2 & 3 Championships is the biggest competition, by size, of the Irish Boxing calendar, and was contested by around 600 boxers.
A staggering 351 bouts were boxed at the National Stadium during the Championships.
