Lidl, Port Road, Letterkenny.
Lidl Ireland GMBH has been granted retention provisions for a photovoltaic system (PVS) of solar panels for its store at Port Road, Letterkenny.
Donegal County granted permission subject to two conditions.
The first is that development shall be retained strictly in accordance with lodged plans. The second is that energy created from the solar panels shall only be of use for Lidl Supermarket, Port Road, Letterkenny unless otherwise agreed, in writing, with the Planning Authority.
The decision document also contains information regarding safety.
It states: “The provision of a Photovoltaic System (PVS) should be designed and installed to current best practice, and include measures to minimise the risk of electrocution to fire- fighters in the event of an incident.
“Adequate and appropriate warning signage for fire-fighters to inform them of the presence of a PV System should be provided adjacent to the entrance of the panel enclosure.
“Only solar cables suitable for outdoor applications and severe weather conditions and UV radiation are to be used.”
