Teacher Mary Ross and her winning door design
The Letterkenny Youthreach and Lifford Youthreach centres spread festive cheer with a Christmas-themed door design challenge.
The winner was SPHE teacher Mary Ross, whose wrapping paper door carried the title ‘Wrap it Up for Christmas’. The competition helped get staff in Letterkenny Youthreach and Lifford Youthreach in a Christmas mood and Mary’s door was crowned the winner after an online vote.
“It was a great way to gel the two centres together,” says Mary. “We had great fun, it brought real laughter to the place.”
Mary, from Carrigans, has been working in Letterkenny Youthreach for almost 19 years. She wanted her door to be eye-catching while also sending an important message related to her work.

“The door design is called ‘Wrap it up for Christmas’ and it sends a message of looking after your sexual health,” explains Mary. “A lot of young people are embarrassed to talk about sexual health, but I try to normalise it as much as I can.”
