The late Jasmine McMonagle
An inquest into the death of a young Donegal mother has been adjourned until a murder trial has concluded.
Jasmine McMonagle (28) was found dead at her home at Forest Park, Killygordon in the early hours of January 4, 2019.
Her partner, Richard Burke, has been charged with her murder and is due to go on trial.
The inquest was reopened at Letterkenny courthouse on Tuesday
Sergeant Pauline O’Connor said an application for the adjournment was being made under Section 25 (2) of the Coroner’s Act.
Donegal Coroner, Dr Denis McCauley, said a criminal trial regarding Ms McMonagle’s death was due to begin next month in Monaghan.
“It seems, thankfully, that a case will come before the criminal courts,” Dr McCauley said.
When the inquest was opened previously, the court heard that the mother-of-two Ms McMonagle died from a lack of oxygen to the brain.
A post mortem found she died from cerebral anoxia, a lack of oxygen to the brain.
Dr McCauley adjourned the case until September 6, 2023.
