Woman arrested over death of man at Sliabh Liag

The woman, who is aged in her 20s, was arrested in Letterkenny on Monday morning and is being detained for questioning at Letterkenny Garda Station.

A woman, aged in her 20s, has been arrested in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in the water off Sliabh Liag.

The woman was previously arrested in connection with the the death of Robert Wilkin.

She is understood to have been arrested in the Letterkenny area on Monday morning.

The woman is currently detained at Letterkenny Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The body of Mr Wilkin, aged in his 60s and originally from County Tyrone, was recovered from the water on July 3.

A man, Alan Vial, has since been charged with murder. Vial and the woman who has now been re-arrested were previously arrested on suspicion of a serious assault.

Vial was charged with murder and is in custody at Castlerea Prison. He is due to appear in court again in September.

The 38-year-old of Drumanoo Head, Killybegs, was initially brought before Ballyshannon District Court on July 14.

Vial was charged that on the 25th of June,2023 at a place unknown within the State, he did murder one Robert Wilkin (also known as Robin Wilkin).

The charge is Contrary to Common Law and as provided for by Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1964.
