Three brothers from County Armagh have been barred from west Donegal.

Paul Gerard McGonnell, Daniel McGonnell and Sean McGonnell have been ordered to stay away from Gweedore, Annagry and Dungloe.

It follows an incident on Monday that saw around €200 worth of alcohol being stolen from a shop in Crolly on Monday, September 4.

Daniel McGonnell, a 34-year-old of Canal Court, Middletown, Armagh and 30-year-old Sean McGonnell, with an address at Rawes Road, Derrynoose, Keady, were brought before Tuesday’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court.

A third sibling, Paul Gerard McGonnell, a 23-year-old whose address was given as Rawes Road, Derrynoose, Keady, was hauled before the same court on Wednesday.

They are each charged with stealing an assortment  of bottles of alcohol including vodka and whiskey to the value of between €180-€200. The offence is contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.

Paul Gerard McGonnell is further charged with stealing vodka to the value of €20.71 from Aldi at Gortlee, Letterkenny on September 4.

Evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of each man was given to the court by Sergeant Jim Collins.

Sergeant Collins said there was no objection to bail, but sought a number of conditions.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham granted bail on condition that the men stay out of Gweedore, Annagry and Dugloe, save for court dates, that they abstain from alcohol, they commit no further offence and be of good behaviour and that they not interfere with any witnesses or the alleged injured party.

Legal aid in respect of each man was granted to solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian.

Mr Dorrian said his clients were originally from Armagh, but were now living in Dublin and their location would necessitate them coming to Donegal on the night prior to court appearances. This was agreed to by the court.

The matter was adjourned to the October 10 sitting of Dungloe District Court.
