Woman faces trial in Donegal on 84 fraud charges

A woman is to stand trial at Letterkenny Circuit Court on 84 charges of alleged fraud.

Student Zainab Agoro appeared at Letterkenny District Court after being arrested by arrangement.

She is charged that on April 6th, 2022 at Allied Irish Bank, Lyster Square, Portlaoise, Co Laois, did steal property to wit €350 lodged to an Allied Irish Bank account, the property of the Department of Social Protection.

The 22-year-old, with an address at Station Street, Clongriffin, Dublin 13, also faces a raft of other similar charges on various other dates.

The charge was Contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.

Garda Sergeant Gerard Dalton told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that on trial by indictment on all matters before the court.

Detective Garda Gerard McCready told the court that there was no objection to bail but he asked for a number of conditions.

These included that Agoro sign on each Wednesday at Coolock Garda Station in Dublin, surrender her passport and be available for contact by telephone.

Her solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, said there was no objection to any of these conditions.

Judge Eiteain Cunningham adjourned the case until July 8, 2024 for the service of a book of evidence in the case.
