A Convoy man has pleaded guilty to a serious assault in what has been described as a 'one-punch case'.
Kyle Leeper appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court.
The 24-year-old Carrickbrack, Convoy, was formally arraigned before Judge John Aylmer.
Leeper pleaded guilty to assaulting Don Rowan and causing him harm on February 20, 2022 at Lower Main Street, Letterkenny.
Leeper, wearing a hoodie and jeans, spoke only to plead guilty.
Mr Peter Nolan BL, barrister for Leeper, said a probation and welfare report would be beneficial.
Leeper has no previous convictions.
Mr Nolan said: “The court would need to know the particular situation that occurred. It is Mr Leeper's explanation that it is a one-punch case and there are extenuating circumstances.”
Mr Nolan said Leeper is a hard-working young man and a father-of-one.
Judge Aylmer ordered the preparation of a probation and welfare report, to include suitability for community service, and adjourned the matter until October.
