Woman fined for cosmetics theft from Bundoran

A woman who stole over €200 worth of cosmetics from a Bundoran pharmacy has appeared in court.

Kathleen Cash was before Ballyshannon District Court over the offence on July, 8, 2018.

Cash, a 30-year-old of Labre Park, Kylemore Road, Ballyfermot, Dublin, pleaded guilty to the incident.

Inspector Angela Cummins told the court that on the day in question at 2.45pm, Cash entered Cara Pharmacy on Main Street, Bundoran and took cosmetic products worth €204 before exiting the store without paying.

Gardai later located Cash and the property was handed back and was deemed to be resalable.

Mr Rory O'Brien, solicitor for Cash, said there was a backdrop of “significant events” in Cash's life, including that she had been made homeless after a “devastating fire”.

“She found herself in temporary housing for a continued period,” Mr O'Brien said.

Mr O'Brien said Cash came to Bundoran with a group of friends. While Cash accepted responsibility for the wrong doing, he said other individuals were present on the occasion and Cash has since distanced herself from these people.

The court was told that Cash cares for her father and she has a single previous conviction for a road traffic offence.

“She is not one for this type of behaviour,” Mr O'Brien said. “She feels deep shame and genuine remorse about this incident. There is no evidence of prolific behaviour. She is of good character bar this one single incident.”

Cash was convicted by Judge Sandra Murphy and fined €150 with six months to pay.
