Derry Magistrate's Court
A Donegal man who admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour in Derry said he was that stupid he didn't realise police officers were trying to help him.
Kevin Dowds (40) with an address at St Johnston admitted one charge of disorderly behaviour on April 7 this year.
The court heard police were dealing with an incident in Castle Street in Derry City Centre at around 9.30pm. Dowds approached police and was asked to move away as it had nothing to do with him.
The defendant began to shout at police and was continually told this was not his concern and to move out of the area.
Dowds was asked to calm down and move away but told police he was from Donegal. A police officer tried to explain to him a Community Resolution Notice but the defendant refused to co-operate.
Dowds, who represented himself, was asked had he anything to say and he replied apologised for his actions. He said he had been stupid and didn't realise the police were trying to help him. Dowds was bound over for 12 months.
