Gardai issue plea after driver clocked at 166km/h in Donegal

Donegal Gardai have issued a plea for motorists to slow down after one driver was clocked at 166km/h on Friday.

Gardai from the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit detected a car travelling at 166km/h on a road governed by a speed limit of 100km/h.

The driver was arrested and charged to appear in court at a later date.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Keep a constant eye on your speed this Bank Holiday weekend and every time you drive. Slow down. Help prevent tragedies on the roads.”
