A Letterkenny man has been sent forward to stand trial over an alleged unprovoked assault of a pensioner.
John McGinley appeared before Letterkenny District Court this week.
The 19-year-old is charged that on June 16, 2023, at Glenwood Park, Letterkenny, he assaulted James Doheny causing him harm.
A book of evidence was served on solicitor Rory O'Brien on behalf of his client.
Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle said the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented to send the accused forward for trial at the next Letterkenny Circuit Court sittings commencing on October 29, 2024.
McGinley was charged over the incident, which which is alleged to have occurred at around 5.45am.
The alleged victim in the matter, James Doheny. took to the witness box and said he felt 'scared and intimidated' by McGinley.
Judge Eiteain applied the alibi warning to McGinley of Glenwood Park, Letterkenny and the case was adjourned to the circuit court sitting.
