A Donegal man has been brought to court for an alleged sexual assault.
The man, who is aged in his 60s, appeared before Letterkenny District Court.
The man is charged that, on a date unknown between April 2022 and September 2022 he did assault a named female.
The accused cannot be named for legal reasons in order to protect the identity of the alleged victim in the case.
Detective Garda Eimear Hassett gave evidence of arresting the man at Letterkenny courthouse under the Criminal Justice Act 1984 before charging him.
After being charged, the man told Detective Hassett: “I never assaulted her at any time. I think this is all a make up story.”
Sergeant Jim Collins said that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has directed that the matter proceed by way of prosecution on indictment at the Circuit Court.
Sergeant Collins sought an adjournment for a book of evidence to be prepared.
The defendant is represented by solicitor Mr Rory O'Brien.
Judge Eteain Cunningham granted bail on condition that the man reside at a named address, that he commit no offence and be of good behaviour. He is to have no contact, either directly or indirectly, with the alleged injured party or any of her family members who are witnesses in the matter.
The case was adjourned to December 16.
