Portnablagh man faces trial for driving vehicle at another man

The 49-year-old man is charged that he did did intentionally or recklessly engage in conduct by driving a vehicle at another man, putting his life at risk.

A Portnablagh man faces a trial for allegedly endangering the life of another man.

Jonathan Stewart was before Falcarragh District Court this week.

Stewart, a 49-year-old of with an address at Port Na Blagh, Dunfanaghy has been charged in connection with an incident on June 24 last.

Stewart has been charged that he did did intentionally or recklessly engage in conduct by driving a vehicle at Kyle Hartle putting his life at risk.

The charge is contrary to Section 13 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.

Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has directed that the matter be dealt with by way of trial on indictment at the Circuit Court.

Stewart was represented by solicitor Mr Marshall McCloughan, who informed the court that he would be applying for a senior and junior counsel in the matter.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham remanded Stewart on bail in his own bond of €200 nil cash and on condition that he provide An Garda Siochana with a telephone number on which he is to be contactable 24-7.

The matter was adjourned to a later date for the service of a book of evidence.
