A man in his 20s has been sent forward for trial at the Central Criminal Court charged with the alleged sexual assault of a woman in County Donegal.
The incident is alleged to have happened on August 15, 2021.
The accused man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged victim, appeared at Letterkenny District Court.
He is charged that on that date at a named town in County Donegal, he did sexually assault a female.
The charge is Contrary to Section of the Criminal Law (Rape Amendment) Act of 1990 as amended by Section 37 of the Sex Offenders register's Act of 2001.
Detective Garda David Anthony Leahy gave evidence of arresting the accused man.
He told the court that the man made no reply when charged in connection with the alleged incident.
Solicitor for the accused, Mr Kieran O'Gorman, said bail had been agreed and conditions put in place.
Garda Sergeant Jim Collins said the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented for the accused to be sent forward for trial at the Central Criminal Court.
Legal aid was granted and the case was adjourned until January 20, 2025.
