The man was charged with kicking a garda and causing her harm
A man has appeared in court accused of kicking a Garda in the stomach.
Glen Friel was before Letterkenny District Court in connection with the alleged incident on May 5, 2022.
The 24-year-old of Oliver Plunkett Road, Letterkenny, faces a charge that he did, at Oliver Plunkett Road, Letterkenny, assault one Garda Aoife McNulty, causing her harm.
The charge is contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offence Against the Person Act, 1997.
Friel appeared before the court by video link from Wheatfield Prison where he is in custody on another matter,
Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that during the course of an incident, Friel kicked a female Garda in the stomach and caused her harm.
Sergeant Doyle said the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has directed that the matter can be summarily disposed of in the District Court.
Friel is represented by solicitor Mr Rory O’Brien.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham adjourned the matter until November 18 to consider jurisdiction.
