Man (70s) in court for west Donegal sex assault 

The man tendered a guilty plea in respect of the charge when he appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court to be formally arraigned before Judge John Aylmer

A man has pleaded guilty to a sexual assault in west Donegal.

The man, who is in his 70s, tendered a guilty plea in respect of the charge when he appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court.

The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons at this point, was charged that on a date between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010 he did sexually assault a named woman at a specified location.

The man spoke only to plead guilty as he was formally arraigned in court.

He was represented by barrister Mr Colm Smyth SC, who asked that a probation report be prepared.

Judge John Aylmer adjourned the matter until the next session of Letterkenny Circuit Court.
