A man has pleaded guilty to endangering people in a Letterkenny off licence when he reversed his car into the front of the premises.

Liam Boyle tendered a guilty plea when he appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court.

Boyle was charged over the incident on May 12, 2022 at Carry Out Off Licence on Pearse Road, Letterkenny.

The 27-year-old of College Park, Letterkenny spoke only to plead guilty when he was formally arraigned before Judge John Aylmer.

Boyle was charged that he intentionally or recklessly engaged in conduct that he reversed a white Dacia Duster into the front of the premises while there were a number of persons present inside which created a substantial risk of death or serious injury or harm to another.

The charge is contrary to section 13 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

Barrister for Boyle, Mr Seán McGee BL, asked that sentencing be adjourned. Mr McGee suggested that a probation and welfare report would be of use to the court.

Judge Aylmer adjourned the matter until the February session of Letterkenny Circuit Court and asked that the report include an assessment as to Boyle’s suitability for community service.
