A Donegal man will stand trial on 19 charges of burglary.

Timmy O'Gara appeared at Letterkenny District Court charged with a spate of offences.

The 21-year-old is charged in connection with the burglaries, which are alleged to have occurred over a period between May and July, 2023.

He is charged with the burglaries on various dates at properties in areas including Killybegs, Inver, Cloghan, Kilcar, Glencolmcille, Carrick, Fintown and Teelin.

O’Gara was arrested on August 4, 2023 and subsequently charged following a planned operation by officers in the Ballyshannon Garda District.

In the case of each alleged incident, O’Gara is accused of burglary having entered a building or part of a building, committing or attempting to commit any such offence therein.

The alleged offences are contrary to the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001.

The 21-year-old of Drimroe, Glencolmcille, did not speak during the brief hearing.

Garda Pauline Doherty told how she served a book of evidence on the accused and that he made no reply when charged.

Sergeant Gerard Dalton told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has directed trial on indictment in the Circuit Court sitting in Letterkenny in February, 2025.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham administered the alibi warning.

Solicitor for the accused, Mr Rory O'Brien, was granted legal aid and requested two counsel to represent his client during the trial.

O'Gara was released on bail and the case was adjourned.
