A man has pleaded guilty to attacking a woman at the library in Bundoran.

Calvin McCormack, 26, appeared at Donegal Circuit Court.

McCormack, of Gaelic Park, Bundoran, is charged with assault causing harm to Hollie Hickman on July 2, 2023 at Bundoran Community Library, Station Road, Bundoran.

The charge is contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

A previous sitting of the court was told that the defendant allegedly punched the injured party.

The court was told the alleged victim had suffered two jaw fractures as a result of the incident.

Ms Hickman has also had to have a permanent plate and screws inserted in her jaw.

She also had to have a wisdom tooth removed.

McCormack appeared before Judge John Aylmer where he spoke only to confirm his guilty plea to the assault charge.

His barrister, Mr Ciaran Elders, described the charge as "quite a serious matter" and asked for a probation and welfare report for his client.

Judge Aylmer agreed and adjourned the case for final sentence until the next sessions of Donegal Circuit Court in March, 2025.
