Gardai have launched an investigation and appealed for witnesses
A woman has alleged that she was assaulted by a man in Ballybofey in a row over a taxi in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
The alleged incident occurred on Main Street, Ballybofey around 1.30-2am on January 1.
Gardai say that the alleged assault occurred close to the AIB Bank when a row broke out at that location between a group of males and a group of females over a taxi that had just pulled in.
One of the females reported that she was assaulted by one of the males during the row.
The woman sustained injuries, none of which are life threatening in nature.
A Garda spokesperson said: “We appeal to anybody who may have travelled on the Main Street between those times with a dash cam to make contact with Gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100.
