The man, who is now in custody at Castlerea Prison, is charged with assault at the Post Office, Main Street, Dungloe on December 20, 2024, and with a breach of the Public Order Act at The Cope, Main Street, Dungloe on the same date

A Letterkenny man charged with alleged public order and assault offences at Dungloe Post Office is still awaiting directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions in his case.

Philip Dodoo, aged 23, appeared at Letterkenny District Court by videolink from Castlerea Prison.

He is charged with assault at the Post Office, Main Street, Dungloe on December 20, 2024, and with a breach of the Public Order Act at The Cope, Main Street, Dungloe on the same date.

Sergeant Gerard Dalton said that directions in the case from the DPP are still awaited.

His solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, told the court that his client is currently in the medical wing at Castlerea Prison.

He asked for the case to be put back to January 20, 2025 to see if directions were forthcoming from the DPP.
