A man has appeared in court charged with assaulting another man at a hostel in Falcarragh.

Artem Hyria is accused of assaulting Oleksandr Tiunov at the 3 Waves of Tory Hostel on Main Street, Falcarragh on February 10, 2024.

The charge is Contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

Speaking at Falcarragh District Court, Judge Éiteáin Cunningham asked the nature of the injuries.

Garda Inspector Seamus McGonigle replied that the injuries were superficial.

He said the victim was allegedly struck with a fist and was also bitten on the chest.

Inspector McGonigle said the Director of Public Prosecution indicated summary disposal of the case in the District Court.

Hyria, aged 38, has an address at the 3 Waves of Tory in Falcarragh.

Judge Cunningham adjourned the case until the February sitting of Falcarragh District Court for jurisdiction.
