Derry Magistrate's Court
The PSNI in Derry have been granted an extension of 36 hours to question two men in connection with an incident in Lifford which resulted in a man being seriously injured.
A Detective Sergeant from the PSNI made that application in front of District Judge Barney McElholm at Derry Magistrate's Court.
The court heard that both men were arrested in Derry around midnight on Tuesday night.
The police officer said both men were being questioned in relation to charges of attempted murder, aggravated burglary and false imprisonment.
The court was told that there were forensics, CCTV and crime scene evidence and that it was a joint investigation involving both the PSNI and the Gardai.
After submissions from defence solicitors for both men Judge McElholm granted a 36 hour extension for their continued detention.
