The man pleaded guilty to taking a bus from Letterkenny bus station
A man has appeared in court after pleading guilty to stealing a Bus Eireann coach from Letterkenny Bus Station.
Derek Dunne appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court where he entered a plea of guilty.
Dunne, of Markievicz House, Dublin, is charged with on July 10, 2023 at Bus Éireann Bus Station, Ramelton Road, Letterkenny, he did unlawfully take possession of and use a mechanically propelled vehicle without the consent of the owner, Bus Éireann Transport Company, or without lawful authority.
The 23-year-old did not speak during the brief hearing.
The court was told that Dunne had entered an early guilty plea.
The charge is contrary to Section 112 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (as amended by Section 65 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968, and as amended by Section 18 of the Road Traffic Act, 2006).
Mr Daniel Comerford BL, barrister for Dunne, said the accused is engaging with the Probation Services in Dublin.
He requested an adjournment in the case and asked for the matter to be put back to the October session of the court.
Judge John Aylmer adjourned the matter and Dunne was released on continuing bail.
