Letterkenny woman admits to criminal damage and handling stolen €575 vase

A Letterkenny woman has pleaded guilty to charges including causing criminal damage to a caravan, theft and handling stolen property.

During a brief hearing at Letterkenny Circuit Court, Pearl Connors spoke only to tender guilty pleas to four charges.

Connors, aged 34 and with an address at Calan Road, Neil T Blaney Road, Letterkenny, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to a caravan belonging to a Danny Connors at Canal Road, Neil T Blaney Road, Letterkenny on March 31, 2019.

The charge is contrary to section 2 (1) of the Criminal Damage Act, 1991.

The accused woman also pleaded guilty to handling stolen property, namely that at Canal Road, Neil T Blaney Road, Letterkenny, on July 29, 2019, she did handle stolen property, a Waterford Crystal glass vase valued at €575.

Connors also pleaded guilty to two counts of theft. She tendered a guilty plea to stealing grocery items and clothing valued at €32,50 from Dealz, Letterkenny on April 21, 2020, and of stealing confectionery and drinks worth €14.95, from the same store on March 17, 2021.

Mr Peter Nolan BL, instructed by Connors’ solicitor Mr Patsy Gallagher, said his client has no previous or post convictions.

He said a probation report would be “of great value” and said that it was obvious that the amounts involved here were “very small”.

Judge John Aylmer requested the preparation of a probation report and adjourned the case until July.

Connors was remanded on continuing bail on the same terms and conditions.
