The woman was before Letterkenny Circuit Court
A 22-year-old woman who previously lived in Letterkenny has pleaded guilty to a 'money mule' fraud.
Zainab Adetanwa Agoro appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court where she pleaded guilty to the charge.
The accused, of Station Street, Clongriffin in Dublin but with a previous address at Gort na Greine, Letterkenny, spoke only to confirm her guilty plea.
She is charged with possession of property that was the proceeds of criminal conduct, contrary to section 7.1 (a) and (b) and 7.3 of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act, 2010.
The court was told that on January 22nd, 2024 at an unknown place in the state, Agoro had €1,350 in her AIB account knowing that it was or being reckless as to whether or not the said property was the proceeds of criminal conduct.
Barrister for the accused, Ms Patricia McLaughlin, SC, said her client was only 22 years old and had no previous convictions. Ms McLaughlin told the court that Agoro would benefit from a probation report.
Judge John Aylmer directed the probation report and adjourned the case for final sentence to the July sessions of the circuit court.
