Gardaí are investigating the assault

A man was taken to hospital after an assault by three men outside a takeaway in Letterkenny.

The incident occurred at Lower Main Street, Letterkenny in the early hours of Monday, July 14, at approximately between 3.10am and 3.15am.

The injured man was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to receive treatment for injuries that are not believed to be life threatening in nature.

CCTV has been sought and viewed from the area and it has been established that one of the males involved in the incident was wearing a black t-shirt with a crest on it, beige shorts, black runners and black socks.

Another of the males was wearing a blue long sleeved shirt, denim jeans and white runners and the third male was wearing a black t-shirt, dark denim jeans and brown shoes. 

Following the incident, two of the males left on foot down Lower Main Street and the third male left in the direction of Oliver Plunkett road.

“From the CCTV we have ascertained that a number of people were present in the area during the incident and we are asking them to come forward and speak to us if they witnessed the incident or if they can assist with relevant information,” said Garda Gráinne Doherty.

“We also appeal to anyone who may have travelled at Lower Main Street or in the area of the Oliver Plunkett Road between 3am and 3.30am with a dash-cam, to make the footage available to us.”
