A warm welcome to the court for new solicitor in Donegal legal practice

A new solicitor has been welcomed to the legal fraternity in Donegal.

Christopher Murray was at Donegal District Court sitting in Ballyshannon Courthouse on Wednesday, October 1. 

Before court proceedings got underway, solicitor Diarmuid Barry said: “It is my pleasant duty to introduce a new solicitor to the court. 

“Christopher Murray born in Dublin but has strong Donegal lineage. 

“He is joining GMB Law having qualified through LYIT [now ATU Donegal] and obtaining a Masters Degree in Law from NUI, and serving his apprenticeship in Dun Laoghaire. 

“I am delighted to say that he has found us.”Mr Barry said the young solicitor’s hobbies including running and Gaelic football.

“I am sure if there are coaches listening, they will be anxious to get him into the team,” he said, adding: “I wish him all his success and a long career here in Donegal.”

Sergeant Jim Collins welcomed Mr Murray on behalf of An Garda Síochana. 

“I would like to congratulate you on your academic achievements,” said the sergeant. “I look forward to working with you, and I wish you a long career.”

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham added her best wishes. 

“It is always a lovely day for the court when we welcome a new practitioner,” she said. 

“My congratulations on your qualifications which are very far-reaching. 

“I also extend my best wishes to you, and I am sure Donegal GAA will welcome a Dub!”

Mr Murray thanked everyone for their kind words.

“I am looking forward to working with colleagues going forward,” he said. “Hopefully I can be an addition to the community.”

Mr Murray was accompanied in court by his partner and family members.
