The man appeared before Letterkenny District Court

A man who was roaring and shouting and barely able to stand because he was so drunk has appeared at Letterkenny District Court.

Michael Connors, 52, was charged under the Public Order Act with being intoxicated.

Connors, of Canal Road, Letterkenny, did not appear in court.

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the accused had an ongoing issue with alcohol.

The incident happened on October 2nd, 2025 when there had been a bereavement in Connors' family.

Solicitor for Connors, Mr Patsy Gallagher, said his client had previous convictions but had not been before the court for ten years.

Mr Gallagher admitted that his client was not in court but that he had spoken to him at the weekend.

Judge Emile Daly told Mr Gallagher that when he was advising his clients, that if they are in court on the day they will get the benefit from it.

Judge Daly asked if Connors had paid previous fines and was told he had.

She fined the accused €200 and gave him six months to pay.
