Donegal man handed driving ban after no insurance detection

A Donegal man has been disqualified from driving after being found driving with no insurance.

Samuel Scott was also fined €500 at Letterkenny District Court following a road traffic collision last year.

Scott, a 62-year-old of Ballayare, Ramelton was involved in a collision with another vehicle on the N15, Main Street, Stranorlar at the junction with Chapel Street.

Garda Kerry Hewitson told the court that a lawful demand was made for Scott to produce his insurance or a certificate of exemption. No documentation was produced.

Sergeant Jim Collins confirmed that Scott had no previous convictions.

Scott was not present in court and Judge Emile Daly convicted him. Scott was fined €500 and given four months to pay. He was also disqualified from driving for a period of two years.
