Drivers arrested in Letterkenny having tested positive for drugs

Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit were out on patrol yesterday and they arrested two drivers on suspicion of drug driving - they also seized two vehicles.

Two arrests were made by Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit

Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit made a busy start to the Bank Holiday weekend, with vehicle seizures and arrests for drug driving.

Gardaí were out on patrol yesterday and they arrested two drivers. Firstly, a vehicle flagged up on their ANPR system for having no insurance. The vehicle was stopped. The driver was arrested after testing positive for cannabis.

The vehicle was seized. A second driver was also arrested by the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit yesterday after testing positive for cocaine.

In a separate incident, a vehicle was seized as it did not have a valid NCT.

Gardaí are out on the roads conducting checkpoints and speed checks this St Brigid's Bank Holiday weekend.

"Please drive in a responsible manner, slow down, wear a seatbelt, do not hold/use a mobile phone while driving and never drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs," they said. "Ensure that your documentation is fully in order."
