Vehicle set on fire in Muff as gardai appeal for help to solve mystery arson attack

The vehicle was extensively damaged in the fire and was completely destroyed as a result.

Gardaí are investigating a suspected arson attack after a vehicle was discovered on fire near Muff during the early hours of last Wednesday, March 4.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at approximately 1.40am, when the vehicle was found ablaze at Sappagh, along the R239, around a mile outside the village of Muff on the Burnfoot road.

The vehicle was extensively damaged in the fire and was completely destroyed as a result of the incident.

Fire services attended the scene and brought the blaze under control. No injuries were reported, and the incident is being treated as a case of criminal damage.

Gardaí have launched an investigation and are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist their inquiries to come forward.

In particular, investigators are asking anyone who may have been travelling in the area between 1am and 1.40am on the morning of the incident to review any dash-cam footage they may have and make it available to Gardaí.
