Patrick Sweeney was released on bail and will appear again on April 23

A man has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court following a breach of his bail conditions that stated he was not to enter the city of Derry.

Patrick Sweeney (29) of Lower Main Street in Letterkenny was on bail for a number of domestic matters, including non-fatal strangulation and criminal damage.

On April 8, police received a report of two males fighting in Foyle Street and, upon attending the scene, found one of them to be Sweeney, who had a number of facial injuries. Police checked his bail history and found him to be in breach of his most recent conditions that stated he was not to enter the city.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that this was his first breach since November and asked that he be released with a final warning. Sweeney was released on bail and will appear again on April 23.
