'Events spiralled' for a Dublin man who arrived in Letterkenny for a party and was caught with a quantity of cocaine.

Ross Cahill appeared at Letterkenny District Court this week in relation to the seizure on April 8, 2022.

Gardai were on patrol at Ashlawn, Letterkenny, at 5.40am when they noticed a male acting suspiciously.

Cahill, a 30-year-old with an address at Castlefiled Park, Clonsilla, Dublin, was searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Officers located €50 worth of cocaine on Cahill, Sergeant Jim Collins told the court. Cahill was 'fully co-operative and apologetic', Sergeant Collins said.

Solicitor for Cahill, Mr Rory O'Brien, said his client was an electrician who was visiting friends at a party when 'events spiralled'.

“This was a small period of experimentation,” Mr O'Brien said.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham said Cahill could avoid a conviction by making a €200 contribution to the Donegal Women's League under-12s team.
