Death notices and funeral arrangements for Donegal on Monday evening, December 8

The following deaths have taken place:

Angela Callaghan, Newtowncunningham

The death has taken place of Angela Callaghan (née Porter), Main Street, Newtowncunningham F93 XKP7.

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in Letterkenny University Hospital.

Predeceased by parents John & Margaret Porter, brothers Jim & Eamon, sisters Philomena, Christina, Annie and Joan.

Much-loved wife and mother to husband Eamon, children Robert, Margaret, Mary, Michelle, Geraldine & John.

Fondly remembered by sister Margaret, extended family members, neighbours and friends.

Removal from Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top Letterkenny (F92 XE35) at 6pm on Tuesday, December 16 going to her late residence.

Funeral on Thursday, December 18 in All Saints Church Newtowncunningham at 11am followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

House private to family and close friends.

Grace Anne O`Doherty, Dunfanaghy

The death has taken place in Letterkenny University Hospital of Grace Anne O`Doherty (née Ferry), Greenhill, Dunfanaghy, Co. Donegal.

Much loved and sadly missed by her husband Michael, son Michael John, daughters Roseleen and Marie, sisters Mary Conaghan, Marjorie Barron, Catherine Togher, Margaret Brennan and Bridie McGlynn, brothers Hughie and Dennis, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Her remains will be reposing at her late residence from 6.00pm on Tuesday, December 16 - private for family and close friends please.

Funeral Mass in Holy Cross Church, Dunfanaghy on Thursday at 12.00 noon.

Burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

Family time please from 10.00 p.m. to 11.00 a.m. and on the morning of the funeral.

Michael Dunne, Illistrin

The death has taken place of Michael Dunne, Illistrin, Letterkenny F92 YA3T.

Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in Letterkenny University Hospital.

Predeceased by parents, Pat and Kate, brothers Denis, Paddy and John and sister Sr Mary.

Deeply regretted by devoted wife Margaret (née Harte), son Pauric (Clare) daughters Mary (Craig), Kate (Kenny), Collette (Ali), Helen (Gerry).

Fondly remembered by brother Eddie, his 14 grandchildren, great-grandson Caleb, nieces, nephews extended family members, good neighbours amd many friends.

Michael’s remains will repose at his late residence on Tuesday, December 16 until 9pm and on Wednesday, December 17 from 2pm until 9pm, with rosary both nights at 8pm.

Funeral from there on Thursday morning going to St Columba’s Church, Kilmacrennan for Requiem Mass at 11.00am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

House private to family on morning of the funeral.

Margaret Gilmartin, Bundoran

The death has occurred peacefully at her residence of Margaret Gilmartin Ellesmere Ave, West End, Bundoran, Co. Donegal. 

Predeceased by her husband Eamonn, her son Eamonn (jnr), her parents Kathleen and Michael Conroy, brother Cyril, sisters Cait and recently deceased Teresa. Margaret will be dearly missed by her daughter Michelle, son-in-law Liam, her grandsons Liam (Jnr), Finn, Eamonn and Aiden. 

Her brother Noel, and her nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at her residence at Ellesmere Ave, Bundoran, F98 CF10 from 2pm to 5pm on Wednesday, December 17. 

House private at all other times. Removal on Thursday morning at 10.30am to arrive at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Bundoran for 11am funeral Mass. 

Interment afterwards in St Ninnidh Cemetery, Bundoran. Margaret's mass can be viewed on the parish webcam.

Charles Maguire, Killygordon

The death has occurred in Letterkenny University Hospital and in the care of St Joseph’s Community Hospital, Stranorlar, of Charles (Charlie) Maguire, formerly Cooladawson, Killygordon.

Predeceased by his mother Mary, father Jack, brother Patrick and infant brother Paul.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sisters Rosaleen, Sheila, Josephine, Susanna, Helen, Anna-Mae, brothers Martin, John, Frank, and Christopher, nephews, nieces, sist, brothers in law, in-law and extended family and friends.

Reposing at Mc Cool’s Funeral Home, Ballybofey on Tuesday, December 16, and Wednesday from 6pm to 9pm.

Rosary both nights at 9pm. Family on the morning of the funeral please.

Funeral leaving from there on Thursday, December 18 at 10.10 am via Cooladawson, for 11am Requiem Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Crossroads, Killygordon.

Interment in the adjoining churchyard.

Raymond O’Neill, Letterkenny

The peaceful death has taken place at his home surrounded by his loving family of Raymond O’Neill, Magheranan, Letterkenny, F92 P7YR.

Deeply regretted by his loving wife Aileen, son Tony, daughter Sandra, nieces, nephews, neighbours, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his brothers Kevin, Hugo and Tony and his sisters Eileen, Josie, Maureen, Patricia, Úna and Chrissie.

Reposing at his home on Tuesday, December 16 from 2pm until 8pm when people are welcome to pay their respects.

Requiem mass on Wednesday at 11am in the Church of the Irish Martyrs, Gortlee, Letterkenny.

Burial afterwards in St Eunan’s Cemetery, Raphoe.

Funeral mass can be viewed on the Church of the Irish Martyrs YouTube channel.

Family time on the morning of the funeral. Family flowers only.

Donations if desired to Donegal Hospice, c/o any family member.

Máire Bonner, Kincasslagh

The tragic and unexpected death has taken place at her home of Máire Bonner, née Philpott, of Drumnacart, Kincasslagh, originally from Dublin.

Predeceased by her son Jamie and parents Maura and Humphrey.

Sadly missed by her husband James, son Aiden, sisters; Adrienne Morgan and Anne-Marie Walden, brother Bryan Philpott and extended family and friends.

Removal from the Eternal Light, Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny (F92 XE35) on Tuesday, december 16 at 12.30pm to Roarty's Funeral Home, Derrybeg Gweedore (F92 DN4X).

Her remains will repose at the Funeral Home from 2pm to 8pm, with rosary at 8pm. Removal after the rosary to her home in Drumnacart.


House private to family and friends only on Wednesday and family only on the morning of the funeral.
Máire's Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, at 11am in St Mary's Church, Kincasslagh, burial afterwards in Belcruit cemetery.
