Councils approves applications for properties in Laghey

Planning permission has been granted by Donegal County Council for the erection of five properties in Laghey.

There were five combined applicants for the successfully submitted planning permission application, for the proposals which are to be located in a site in the townland of Raneany West, at a site next to Ratheeny Park in Laghey.

The site had been subject to planning applications since 2004, and in October 2025, five separate applications from the five listed applicants were withdrawn from consideration.

Donegal County Council granted permission to the proposals, with 24 conditions, including that before development commences, the developer should pay adequate security to the Planning Authority of €25,000 for the provision and completion of all services, to ensure satisfactory completion, either through a cash deposit, or an acceptable bond of a banking or insurance company.

A further condition was imposed that the applicant should pay a contribution of €18,000 in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefiting development in the area of the Planning Authority that is already provided or is intended to be provided by the Authority.
