A coffee morning and bake sale in aid of the Donegal Hospice will take place at Trentagh National School this Saturday from 11am to 2pm.
The principal of the school, Lisa McMillan, says there is plenty of excitement at the school ahead of the event as parents and pupils prepare to bake for the Saturday morning event.
“The parents are taking a lead role in this - the parents are doing a lot of the baking and the children are doing some baking as well,” she said.
The teacher said the pandemic stalled many events at the school and is delighted that the event will embrace and bring the whole school community together.
“The Donegal Hospice is very close to our heart in our school community so we decided to fundraise for the Donegal Hospice. The parents have really taken the lead on this and they are great bakers,” she said.
Anyone that goes to the event can expect to see apple tarts, rocky roads, cakes, rice krispie cakes and many more delicious bites on Saturday. A local shop has also donated some treats to the school to help the school community raise funds.
“Hopefully we will get the turn out we are hoping for. Everyone knows everyone in Trentagh and everyone supports each other so we do hope people come out to support us,” Lisa said.
It is hoped that busy Christmas shoppers will stop on their way to and from Letterkenny town to enjoy a steaming hot cup of tea or coffee, a tasty bite to eat and a friendly chat.
