Representatives from the Donegal MD, Donegal Town RFC, Minister McConalogue, with guests Geordan Murphy and Simon Shaw at the Holmes on Friday
Two rugby legends were at Donegal Town RFC as the club remembered former player Shane Gillespie, who passed away last November.
Geordan Murphy, who played 72 times for Ireland and represented the British and Irish Lions, and Simon Shaw, who won 71 caps for England and also played for the Lions, were at the Holmes.
The pair were special guests at Friday night's Presentation and Fundraising Dinner Dance in the Abbey Hotel in dedication to the memory of the club's much-loved player Shane, who lived at Keenaghan, Kilmacrennan, after moving from his native Brookfield, Donegal Town. Proceeds from the dinner dance will be donated to worthy causes in memory of Shane.

"Had really positive engagement with members of Donegal Town Rugby Club when I visited The Holmes on Friday evening as they prepared for the club's dinner dance in aid of The Shane Gillespie Trust," Charlie McConalogue, Minister of State at the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, posted of the visit to Doneggal Town RFC.
"The famous club has been an integral part of the community since it was established in 1973 and moved to one of the most idyllic venues that overlooks Donegal Bay in 1980. Thanks to club chairman, Charlie McGinty, for telling the story of Donegal Town RFC so well."
