Donegal Castle hosted a “very successful day” of fun activities for children as part of Cruinniú na nÓg.

Cruinniú na nÓg took place on June 7 and is the annual day of free creativity for children and young people, with over 1,300 children participating in available activities.

Mary McGettigan of Donegal Town Community Chamber was one of the organisers. She told Donegal Live: “This was a collaboration between Donegal Town Community Chamber, Donegal Resource Centre, Donegal Castle, and Donegal Railway Heritage Museum.

“Crunniú na nÓg is all over Ireland. Our event was in Donegal Castle. The four groups came together to organise it. The event went so smoothly, and the venue itself was gorgeous.

“It was amazing. The sun came out and the kids had a ball. The performers were great. We had arts and crafts, and there were storytellers. There were lots of games, and there were many activities available for children.”

Cruinniú na nÓg is the brainchild of the Creative Ireland Programme and is organised and funded locally by Donegal County Council’s Culture and Creativity team with young people from Donegal Youth Council.
