Uisce Éireann crews are on site at the water treatment plant and repair works are underway

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a significant burst to a water main supplying Bundoran, Ballyshannon, and surrounding areas this morning.

A burst on the trunk distribution main at Lough Melvin Water Treatment Plant is causing supply interruptions to customers in Bundoran, Ballyshannon and surrounding areas.

Crews are on site and repair works are underway. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Works are scheduled to take place until 6pm today in Bundoran. Those affected are recommended to allow three to four hours after the estimated restoration time for supply to fully return.

Uisce Éireann’s Damien O’Sullivan assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply water as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers impacted for their support while our repair works are ongoing,” he said. “We expect that customers in Ballyshannon will have water restored by lunchtime today and for our customers in Bundoran it will be later this afternoon before normal supply is restored.”
