Donegal County Council said motorists may experience traffic delays on the N14 Letterkenny to Lifford road during the next 24 weeks while roadworks are carried out.
Road works are set to begin on the busy N14 road, from Lifford Bridge to Rossgier, today, Monday October 10th. The works are to continue for a period of 24 weeks, including holiday periods, the council reported.
The majority of the surfacing works will be carried out during night time hours of 7pm to 7am, the council said.
The council said that traffic delays may be experienced for the duration of the works and are asking motorists to allow extra time for their journeys.
In a statement, the council said they wanted "to assure the public that every effort is being made to reduce the levels of inconvenience to motorists and other road users, and to thank you for your patience and cooperation while these works are being undertaken".
FP McCann Ltd, on behalf of Donegal County Council, will carry out the construction works, which include surfacing works, drainage, upgrade of utility infrastructure and refurbishment of footpaths.
For more information on these works, the public can contact the council on 074 91 53900 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
