The sit-down protest held on Letterkenny's Main Street in front of the Market Square this afternoon.
Around 30 people took partin this afternoon's sit-down protest on Letterkenny's Main Street.
The protest was in opposition to the court ruling earlier this week which saw a 17-year-old school boy being found guilty of the false imprisonment of former tanáiste, Joan Burton, during a water charges protest in Jobstown two years ago.
The sit-down protest, which lasted around two minutes, passed off peacefully and was held with the assistance of a garda sergeant.
As traffic on the main street came to a standstill, protesters chanted "Joan in your ivory tower, this is called people power".
Local Sinn Féin Councillor, Gerry McMonagle, was the only public representative in attendance at today's protest.
The convicted youth, who was 15 at the time of the incident, denied the charge of falsely imprisoning the former Labour Party leader and her adviser, Karen O'Connell at Fortunestown, Jobstown, Tallaght on November 15th, 2014.
