Five Donegal companies are set to benefit from grants totalling just under €750,000, under a plan to create 158 jobs in 18 companies nationwide.
In all, the government is investing €1.7million, as 25% matchfunding to supplement the company’s own investments, which will see a total of €7.4m injected into the seafood processing industry over the next three years.
The Donegal companies involved are: Earagail Eisc Teo, Meenaneary, which will receive €183.750; Premier Fish Products Teo, Meenmore, Dungloe, €146,321.50; Sean Ward Fish Exports, Killybegs, €281.750; Artic Fish Processing, Killybegs, €81,420.25; and Atlanfish, Carndonagh €41,843.50.
Announcing the grants on Friday in Killybegs, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine Simon Coveney TD said: “The projects approved for support create additional income and employment. For example, Atlanfish in Carndonagh are developing a value added processing area in order to increase production and broaden their product range.
“In total, 158 new jobs will be created around the country and this will be a huge boost to local economies, many in rural, coastal communities.”
