Tributes were paid yesterday to Hugh Edward McFadden, Gortlee, Letterkenny following his sad passing in Letterkenny General Hospital in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Mr. McFadden (70) had been transferred to Letterkenny General from a hospital in Portugal after taking ill while on holiday last week. He had been accompanied on a golfing trip by two of his sons and a number of friends from Letterkenny.
A former Captain and past President of Letterkenny Golf Club, he has been described as a great friend who will be sadly missed, Letterkenny Golf Club Captain, Keith Spence said Mr. McFadden was a popular member of the club. “I got to know Hugh very well over the years. He was a past Captain here and was past President as well. In fact, he was never found wanting when it came to helping out around the club - whether that was on the committee or fundraising.
“He was a very good member and supporter and a good friend to many.”
Mr. McFadden worked as a Behavioural Therapist with the HSE up until his retirement.
Even after his retirement, he continued to work on a private basis and also lectured at various colleges, including Letterkenny Institute of Technology.
